LITERALLY A DOUBLE–no recipe tweaking, just twice of everything from their regular Crooked Tree aside from the water. Thus a robustly-bodied ale of a hazy copper that is delightfully balanced for a DIPA. Surely one of the most tasteful in this regard, it is not obsessed with hop demolition or being too complex–rather just big and burly and packed with more of its strong foundation: fresh, grapefruity hops centered squarely in the body with some actually discernible caramel malt for balance. Maybe a touch more fine carbonation would be ideal; the head left a layer of large bubbles instead of a blanket. Small complaint for an otherwise expertly outsized balancing act.
