A FIRST BLUSH A LITTLE difficult to gauge, but easier once tasted alongside the 1871 lager on tap at the same time. The two have a virtually identical appearance and aroma, though the ale suggests a little thicker biscuit presence and a little more sweetness. Body is correspondingly a little fuller but still on the light side of medium; aromas a little stronger, but still a fairly wooly take on peaches ‘n’ cream . Keeps to itself easily aside from a brief grassy hop foray towards the finish, which is medium short and clean. Inoffensive session ale. But why?
Served: On tap (Emmett’s Tavern, Palatine)
