WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN an interesting twist on their 1 AM English-style session ale is brought low by DMS. By looks appealing: hazy golden color, solid white head, enough bubbling to suggest lively carbonation but still a sturdy body. But its flavors are an awkward joining of steamed broccoli to a one-note bitter hop finish that no amount of pale malt or noble hops can smooth over. Not precisely a wholesale disaster as a recipe—just a thorough misfire. One hopes the next batch will be better.
